Inaccurate Campaign Promises

One of the fundamental pillars of any political campaign is the credibility of its promises. During her 2019 bid for the Birmingham Selly Oak seat, Campbell campaigned on the promise to "get Brexit done" and backed Boris Johnson, a stance that has been widely criticised as a mistake in hindsight. 

More concerning, however, was her pledge to deliver £14 billion in extra funding for schools, a claim that was debunked by the Fact Check portal Full Fact. The real figure, adjusted for inflation, was only £4.3 billion by 2022/23. This misleading information raises serious questions about Campbell's integrity and her commitment to honest communication with voters.

Questionable Environmental Stance

As a District Councillor for Great Malvern, Campbell claimed to protect greenbelt areas. However, her actions tell a different story. She abstained from voting on a plan that allowed the construction of 23,000 houses, which contributed to the plan's approval. This contradiction between her claims and actions suggests a lack of commitment to her stated environmental values, raising doubts about her reliability.

Controversial Decisions and Lack of Accountability

Campbell's tenure as a councillor has not been without controversy. In 2015, the removal of a child's headstone by the town council, a decision linked to Campbell's administration, drew widespread criticism and even death threats. This incident reflects poorly on her ability to navigate sensitive community issues effectively.

Further, in a planning controversy involving a proposed children’s home by G4S, a major Conservative donor, Campbell agreed with the recommendation for approval despite significant local opposition and procedural concerns. 

This situation exemplifies a troubling pattern of unaccountability and potential conflicts of interest.

Misleading Professional Claims

Hannah Campbell's professional background has also come under scrutiny. Claims of being a "digital skills expert" are not substantiated by her career history, which primarily involves sales, account management, and business development. The expertise expected of a digital skills expert typically includes specialised education, certifications, and extensive experience in digital technologies—qualifications that Campbell appears to lack. Misrepresenting her professional credentials undermines her credibility and raises concerns about her transparency.

Inconsistent Political Allegiances

Political consistency is vital for building trust with constituents. Campbell's family history of political allegiance is notably erratic. Her mother, Jill Campbell, defected from the Conservatives to the Democratic group in 2014, only to return to the Tories by 2023. This inconsistency may reflect broader instability in Campbell's political stance and reliability.

Controversial Support for Healthcare Changes

Campbell's support FOR the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust's plans to remove 24-hour A&E services from Telford to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital has been another point of contention. 

This move has significant implications for local healthcare access and has been met with mixed reactions from the community. Such decisions require a deep understanding of local needs and priorities, which Campbell lacks

Narrow Election Victory

In the 2023 local election, Campbell secured her position with just 799 votes, narrowly beating her Green Party rival by just 185 votes. This slim margin indicates a lack of overwhelming support from her constituents, suggesting that her appeal and mandate are limited.
