Telfords Survey Questioned

Image
ðŸš¨ Let’s talk about accessibility in Telford! Despite spending tens of thousands of your tax £'s trying to convince us otherwise, Labour🌹-led Telford and Wrekin Council has once again proven they're out of touch with reality. A recent survey by HolidayCars.com rated our green spaces highly, including accessibility, but the council showcased four images that included up to 75% inaccessible locations! 🤨 £5000 In just one year, my wheelchair ♿ has suffered nearly £5,000 in damages from navigating Telford’s so-called accessible areas.  That’s not accessibility by anyone’s standards!  It’s time for 🌹 #LabourTelford and Telford and Wrekin Council to acknowledge the truth: they have wasted taxpayers' money and are failing over 20,000 disabled residents. Let’s demand real change! 💪 #AccessibilityMatters #TelfordTruths #TelfordDeservesBetter #wheelchair

Controversial Awards

Image
Unpacking the Awards Controversy at Labour-Led Telford and Wrekin Council Telford & Wrekin Council has been making waves with its ambitious Station Quarter regeneration project, a venture aimed at breathing new life into Telford’s northern sector. However, recent revelations cast doubt on the council's transparency and integrity, particularly regarding how it communicates its achievements and accolades. The Awards Under Scrutiny Last year, Labour leader of the council, Cllr Lee Carter, and officers at Telford & Wrekin Council proudly announced that the Station Quarter project was nominated for the "Regeneration & Sustainability Project of the Year" at the Insider West Midlands Property Awards. At first glance, this seems like a significant recognition. But upon closer inspection, the legitimacy of this "prestigious" award comes into question. Spoiler alert: the award was won by a housing development in Coventry and not Telford's Station Quarter. ...

Self-Interest Over Patriotism

Image
Millionaires & Billionaires Flee the UK: A Tale of Self-Interest Over Patriotism In 2024, as Sir Keir's Labour government took the reins, the exodus of millionaires and billionaires from the UK spiked dramatically. Over 10,800 individuals with liquid assets exceeding $1 million packed their bags, marking a 150% increase from the previous year. Among them, 78 centi-millionaires (£100 to £999 million) and 12 billionaires decided that their wealth was better served elsewhere. The reason? Fear of paying their fair share under proposed tax reforms. Let's not kid ourselves—this isn't about sound financial planning or protecting family legacies. This is about greed. It's about a refusal to contribute to the society that helped them amass their fortunes in the first place. These individuals claim patriotism, yet when asked to pay taxes akin to the everyday Brit, they flee. It's a clear contradiction—true patriots don't abandon their country when asked to contribute;...

Crashing the Economy

Image
Our wonderful, and very much overworked first class economist has taken time out of her very busy schedule, to try and help blow the smoke away from the mirrors that Reform, tories and Labour have all been trying to convince you that the economy is crashing and it's all (insert political parties name here) fault. Spoiler alert - it's bankers, and a lack of poltical will to reign them in! As has been widely reported over the last few days, the cost of UK government borrowing has increased to a point where it is now over 5% The government is in deficit, we all know it, its no state secret after all! We've had a deficit for hundreds of years - it's NOT news! So what's happening to interest rates? They are higher than Labour want because that keeps the government's cost of borrowing up, and if the government's cost of borrowing is kept up, there is less for Labour to spend on other stuff we need. This then makes it a problem to balance the books. We know they ...

Reform Party UK Ltd: A Troubling Approach to Candidate Selection

Image
Reform Party UK Ltd: A Troubling Approach to Candidate Selection The Reform Party UK Ltd has recently announced its candidate for the London Mayoral elections, sparking significant controversy due to the questionable background of their chosen representative. The party's decision to nominate convicted criminal Ant Middleton raises serious concerns about its candidate selection and acceptance procedures. Middleton, who has served prison time for unlawful wounding and common assault on two separate police officers, has been presented as a viable option to lead one of the most prominent cities in the world. This decision reflects poorly on the party's judgment and its commitment to integrity in public office. Ant Middleton, who served in the British Army and the Royal Navy, has also presented television, and is no stranger to controversy. Despite his military service, his criminal record paints a troubling picture. The fact that he was convicted of violent offenses against police ...

Musk's Use of an Ableist Slur

Image
Elon Musk's Use of an ♿ Ableist Slur: A Reflection of Intellectual Immaturity and Irresponsibility in Public Discourse Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and influential figure behind Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), has often lauded himself for his technological innovations and bold vision for the future which have nothing to do with his own skills.  However, his recent use of an ableist slur in response to criticism on social media demonstrates a troubling lack of intellectual maturity and a failure to engage in meaningful discourse. Musk's decision to resort to the word "r***rd" in a public forum is not only deeply offensive to the disabled community and their supporters, but also reflects poorly on his ability to handle criticism and engage in productive conversations about serious issues. The context of Musk's comment only amplifies the concerning nature of his response. Musk was accused of becoming "the largest spreader of disinformation ...

Legacy of Shaun Davies

Image
Labour's Telford & Wrekin Council - The Legacy of Shaun Davies – A Leader Failing in Democracy? Shaun Davies, the former Labour council leader of Telford and current Member of Parliament, has come under a new wave of criticism following a scathing statement by former Telford MP Lucy Allan regarding the Child Sexual Exploitation scandal.  Allan’s remarks, raise serious questions about Davies’ past leadership, his democratic integrity, and his ability to represent his constituents effectively in Parliament. The implications of these allegations are deeply troubling and demand closer scrutiny. A Damning History:  False Claims and Deflection Lucy Allan’s statement highlights a disturbing pattern in Shaun Davies’ tenure as council leader. Allan alleged that Davies perpetuated false claims in his defence of the council’s actions over CSE, stating, “He backed up his assertion with claims that we now know were false.” This is a serious accusation, one that strikes at the core of t...
